Six Hour
Work Day

Installation / London / 04-2019
For Six Hour Work Day, I worked alongside a collective of artists and designers to create responses to the issue of environmental degradation through overconsumption, particularly in global cities, proposing promoting a minimalist lifestyle and aesthetic as a possible strategy to motivate change.

My response explored raw material waste and unseen labour, whilst also developing a performance involving ideas of mindfulness and mediation with time and possessions.

For six hours, I unravelled a plain cotton t-shirt thread by thread, segmenting the residue into spherical piles where each pile records five minutes of work

In ‘Half an Hour of Your Time’, 30 minutes of the cotton is displayed, where breaks on the paper reflect a representation of the intonation of my thoughts during this time.
